Are Bed Bug Bites Contagious

Are bed bug bites contagious? The answer is – no. Bed bugs bites are not contagious. These are bugs, not a disease, so we can’t consider them contagious. They can leave some bad looking bite marks on your shoulders, neck, face or arms, and these marks can be very annoying. However, bed bug bites are not contagious, so there is no need to panic. If you have been bitten by a bed bug, you can do several things to calm your skin and prevent the bugs from biting you again. We will give you some tips.

Bed Bug Bites

What do bed bug bites look like? Bed bug bites look like small red bumps that are very itchy. It is important not to scratch your skin, because you can cause skin infections. Bed bugs feed on your blood during the night. You cannot feel the bites because these bugs inject their own saliva into your skin, which acts as an anesthetic. You will feel these bites after several days, once they become red and itchy.

You can see your dermatologist and ask him/her to give you some soothing lotion that will calm your skin. It is important to prevent these bugs from biting you again, so you can use special skin care products that are designed to prevent bed bug bites. However, you should never use any of these products on your own. Your dermatologist will tell you which one to use, depending on your skin type.

House hygiene is very important in preventing bed bugs. Regular vacuuming will keep them away. Make sure to clean the house thoroughly, including your carpets and the rest of furniture. If your vacuum cleaner is not powerful enough, you can call one of the specialized companies that do this kind of work. They will come to your home and clean all your furniture using very powerful equipment.

Do not store your old furniture and carpets in the house. You can also use some chemicals designed to destroy bed bugs and other insects. However, be careful with these products – they can harm your pets or children. Read the instructions for use and keep them away from your pets and children.

We hope this was helpful! Bed bugs are very annoying and they reproduce very fast, so you will have to be persistent. Clean your house regularly, especially your beds!

  2. I had a problem with these bugs. One day I woke up and I saw red bite marks on my skin. I was so scared, thinking it was contagious. I started avoiding contacts with my kids, because I was afraid not to infect them, too. I didn’t even cross my mind that those were bed bugs, so I started panicking and went to see my dermatologist. She told me that these itchy marks were bed bug bites and I was kind of relieved. She gave me some remedies, so the rash subsided in short time. However, this was the last thing on my mind – bed bugs?? So, if any of you sees this on your skin, don’t panic! They’re not contagious, although they do look very nasty sometimes, especially if you scratch the skin. We cleaned our furniture and solved the problem. This was difficult, since we live in a huge house, but it was worth it!

    Great site!

  4. No. Bed bugs bites are not contagious. They do cause skin rashes and sometimes irritation, but they are not contagious. They cannot be transmitted from one person to another, and bed bugs can’t cause any diseases, unlike some other parasites. So, there is no need to be worried about these bites so much. People usually freak out when they see red bumps on the face or neck, but there is no reason for panic. Just don’t touch the rashes, don’t scratch, and they’ll go away eventually. The problem is what to do with bed bugs. They are incredibly good at hiding, and they are even better at reproducing. You can kill several, but that won’t help you. You will just have to destroy every single one of them, which is quite a task. This can be particularly hard if you have a big house. The more furniture you have, the bigger trouble you get. Trust me; I know this because I had to clean up the entire house … every piece of furniture! I had to pay quite a lot for this to be done, and I sincerely hope I won’t have to do it again … ever!

  6. No, of course they’re not! Come on, I can’t believe there are actually people who don’t know the answer to this question! This website is actually very good, and I can see that the info is correct, but guys, did you really have to write this post? I mean, of course that they are not dangerous! There is no need to answer this question! Bed bugs are ugly and we all hate them, but they can’t give you any kind of serious health problem! If you think that temporary skin irritation is dangerous, then, yes – bed bug bites are dangerous. But, come one, skin irritation will go away, and you will be fine! You cannot get any kind of problem if you spend time with people who have been bitten. The bites are not contagious! This is not an illness or something like that! Fleas can transmit infections, so you should be cautious, but bed bugs can’t and there is no need to worry so much. Try not to scratch the rash and just leave it alone! It will go away in ten days, perhaps even sooner. I really think that people are just too scared, because they have seen some extreme cases, and they think it can happen to them, too.
