Identifying Bed Bug Bites

Identifying bed bug bites is not too difficult. People usually think that they have some kind of allergy. Bed bug bites are commonly mistaken for fleabites. People usually get worried about these bites, without even thinking about bed bugs! However, the truth is that identifying bed bug bites is easier than you think. If you read more about bed bugs, you will be able to recognize bed bug bites easily. Bed bugs are small insects that live in our beds, old furniture and carpets. They reproduce very fast. They are capable of producing hundreds of eggs in very short time.

Most people are afraid of bed bug bites, but the truth is that we are too paranoid about bed bug bites. They are annoying, but they are far from dangerous. Fleabites are more dangerous, because these insects can transmit various diseases. Bed bug bites cannot harm you, except they can irritate the skin.

Bed bug bites treatment usually includes home remedies and soothing creams, but even those are not necessary. Bite marks will subside after a week or two, without any special treatment.

What Do Bed Bug Bites Look Like?

Bed bug bites look like small red bumps on the skin. These red bumps are grouped together and they are usually located on the neck, arms, shoulders, chest or face. If you have bed bug bites on your face, this can be irritating, but you should not worry, because the bites will subside in ten days.

Bed bug bites are itchy! You will have the need to scratch your skin, but you must not do that! If you scratch your skin, it can lead to skin irritation or skin infection. If your child has been bitten, you must explain that he must not scratch the skin. Some people scratch their skin during their sleep. To prevent this, try using some soothing creams before going to bed. That will reduce the itchy sensation and you will not scratch the skin during the night.

Bed bugs are brownish or red, and they are only one centimeter long – sometimes even shorter than that. They are brown, but they turn red after they have eaten. They can hardly be seen during the day. These insects are active during the night. They feed on our blood, but we can’t feel the bites right away. They use their own saliva as an anesthetic, so you won’t be able to feel anything!

  2. I have never seen bed bugs, but I have been bitten! According to what I have found about these bugs, they are very difficult to spot and identify, which perfectly makes sense, because they are nocturnal and don’t go out during the day. You can only identify their bites, but this can also be tricky, because the bites look like skin allergies. If you are certain that you are not allergic to anything, and you don’t have pets (or you do have them, but they don’t have any fleas), but you have skin rashes, perhaps you have bed bugs. If your house furniture is old, you may have these creatures living in your beds! Those who travel a lot may pick up these bugs in some hotel or resort. I had skin rashes. I wouldn’t have known these came from bed bugs if my doctor hadn’t told me. So, I started treating the bites and ten days later, it was fine. However, I scratched the bites during sleep, so I irritated the skin. This was frustrating, because during the day, I was disciplined about the scratching, but during the night, I could not control myself! However, I have no scars and I hope I don’t have any bed bugs in the house anymore!
